PERTH, Jan 13 AAP - Rules governing the recreational catching of fish and abalone inWest Australian waters are about to change in a bid to protect stocks and stop abalonepoaching.

Fisheries Minister Kim Chance said the changes would come into force from July 1 this year.

The new rules for abalone would introduce an "in home" possession limit in a bid toprevent the unscrupulous from accumulating excessive quantities of abalone, possibly forcommercial purposes.
