Fed: Local govt should take over child care: unions

CANBERRA, Feb 23 AAP - Local government should become responsible for child care following
the collapse of the nation's biggest private operator, a union that covers workers in
the industry says.

Alternative models to the private sector are needed, the Australian Services Union (ASU) says.

More than 240 unviable ABC Learning centres are up for sale, having been propped up
until March 31 by $34 million in federal funding.
