Vic: Two seriously injured after police pursuit

MELBOURNE, April 24 AAP - Two men involved in a pursuit with police were seriously
injured this morning when their car ran off the road and hit a tree in Melbourne's northern
suburbs.

Police said the pursuit began about 1.20am, when the pair were spotted in a suspected
stolen car in Sharps Road, Tullamarine.

The pursuit continued along Annadale and Arudel roads, before police lost sight of the car.

A police spokesman said a passing motorist notified a patrolling police car of a single-vehicle
collision on the Old Calder Highway in Keilor a short time later.

It appeared the car had veered off the road and hit a tree, the spokesman said.

The two men were taken to hospital and remain in a serious condition.

The Major Collision Investigation Unit was this morning investigating the incident,
the police spokesman said.
