Vic: Police seek witnesses to two chemist attacks
MELBOURNE, Dec 2 AAP - Armed attacks on two suburban chemist shops in Melbourne, may
have been carried out by the same men.
Police are calling for witnesses to the hold-ups, which took place within an hour of
each other on Wednesday.
In the first robbery a shop assistant was threatened with a large chef's knife and
a second worker pushed to the ground in what police described as a "vicious attack" at
the Waverley Road pharmacy in Malvern East about 10.45am (AEDT) Wednesday.
One bandit grabbed cash from the till drawer and left the scene with a second man in
a grey Ford sedan, travelling east along Waverley Road.
The assailant is described as caucasian, aged in his late 30s, slim to medium build,
with dark short greasy hair.
He was wearing a black hooded jacket with a white fur trim around the hood and a white
number 33 printed on the back, blue jeans and runners.
Police are also investigating a second armed robbery at a pharmacy in Hampton East,
about 40 minutes later.
Two men entered the South Road chemist, one was armed with a large knife and he walked
to the back of the shop while the second man waited at the front door.
They escaped with drugs and cash in a car of a similar description to the Malvern hold up.
